Wildrose History

WILDROSE IRISH SETTERS was established in 1990 and is currently located in Hillsboro Or. Member of the Irish Setter Club of America, Irish Setter Club of Seattle and Multnomaugh Irish Setter Association.
Because
Individual
attention is a priority with us we have done very little breeding over the
years. We usually maintain just two to four adult dogs.
I got my first Irish Setter in 1981 named
Whiskey (Ch. Aspendel’s Little Mystery,
pictured left). Years later when I decided to continue on the Aspendel
Line I was lucky enough to acquire Kyla, a Great-Granddaughter of Whiskey’s and she
would become the foundation of Wildrose Irish Setters. The first litter of
Wildrose puppies was born in 1994 and resulted in Ch. Avon Farm Just
George who finished his title in 6 shows with
all majors, 3 Best in Sweeps and Best Puppy at the 95’ Nationals. Kyla was bred
a second time and that litter resulted in my first Breeder/Owner/Handled
Best
in Show winner. BIS,
BISS Ch. Wildrose Such Sweet Secrets CGC, aka
Nate
(pictured right) was ranked in the top 10 in 1999 & 2000. Two of his sister’s
finished as well Ch.
Wildrose Silky Secrets CGC
and Ch. Wildrose
Secret Irish Amber CGC.
Amber was bred to Australian Import Champion Gwyndara Southern Cross. From that
litter came Ch.
Wildrose Cause For Applause aka Claire,
Ch. Wildrose Rebel
Without A Cause
and
Ch. Wildrose Paws For
The Cause.
In 2000 both Amber and her daughter Cassie (the 4th show puppy from
the Cause litter) were lost in a tragic fire in the home of Rebecca Rentschler
of AmberRose Irish Setters. In 2003 Claire was bred to BISS Am/Can Ch.
Touchstone’s Chill Out OA PAJ NAP NJP. From this litter came
Wildrose Cl Eire Voyant
aka Miss Cleo who went to Rebecca to replace her beloved Amber and Cassie. Also
from this litter came
Ch. Wildrose Deb-N-Eire.
It was decided that Rebecca and Christy would come together for a breeding,
which has resulted in a lovely litter of 11 sired by Ch. Avon Farm Tommy Bahama.
Cleo had to be spayed due to trauma to her uterus in birth so her kids carry on
the Wildrose line (which carried on the Aspendel line) as well as start the
AmberRose line of Rebecca Rentschler.
Over the years our philosophy and goals have remained unchanged. Our primary reason for owning Irish Setters is for their companionship. We thoroughly enjoy their active, athletic, humorous nature and the treasured friendships we have formed through them. Of paramount importance to us is producing dogs who are of sound health and temperament while maintaining the highest confirmation quality. We feel very strongly about the issues of irresponsible breeding and pet overpopulation. In keeping with those concerns we have enjoyed rising to the challenge of consistently having top winning dogs while producing very few individuals.
Christy Marley is a well
known
All-breed handler and photographer. Winner of 17 All-Breed Best in Shows
on numerous different breeds. Most known for Irish Setters and Springer
Spaniels however she handled the top winning Field Spaniel in History (Ch.
Marshfield's Boys Night Out, pictured left) to all 11 of his Best in Shows, 1
Nationals Specialty Best in Show and a Group 2 at Westminster. She is now
concentrating more on her photography and her goal to get her judges license.
In 2005 we added a Springer
Spaniel to our home. After handling many of them
it was bound to happen, lol. Jake has been a dream come true. Best
in Sweeps at the 2006 Nationals as well as several all-breed best in sweeps wins
in Canada. He finished in the states with 5 majors and a Specialty breed
from the classes. He finished in Canada with a specialty BOW and a Group 1
from the classes along the way. He took 2007 off to play in other areas
and now has 3 Rally titles, 2 agility titles his CD and CGC making him BISS
Am/Can Ch. Bryden Fairhaven Hidalgo CD RE NA NAJ CGC at just 3 years old.
He is also ranked in the top Springers in the Nation with multiple group
placements.
In 2007 we added a Long Coat Chihuahua to the mix. Mojo was our "potential" show dog that amazed us all. He finished with 4 breeds from the 6-9 class! He is currently ranked in the top 10 in the Nation and under 2 years of age. He has taken the second half of the year off to mature.
